Every obstacle can be overcome – Eszter Hodászi returns to the field with Szekszárd FC

Eszter Hodászi’s return is not only a sports story but also a symbol of Szekszárd FC’s new mindset. With the arrival of the new ownership, the club has made it clear: we aim to win on the pitch, but we also stand for equality, because the recognition of women in Hungarian football is still not where it should be.

“Szekszárd FC will always stand up and take on the fight, even if it means going against the current today,” the club’s leadership says, sending a message to the players, fans, and the wider sports community. This attitude—of fighting, trusting each other, and believing in oneself—defines Szekszárd FC, and Hodászi Eszter’s return gives extra strength to the team on the field.

The season began amid a wave of injuries and the suspension of our head coach, Attila Vágó, but the challenges did not break the team. One clear example of resilience is that Eszter Hodászi, who joined Szekszárd over the summer, will step onto the pitch again on September 6 after a long recovery.

“I’m excited to play again and I really look forward to it. I hope I can be a valuable member of the team,” says Eszter, showing by example that believing in ourselves and each other makes every obstacle surmountable.

Returning Strong, Fueled by Community

Her rehabilitation required not just physical but also mental strength. “Things were going well, but for some reason my knee couldn’t keep up with the pace, so I had to slow down,” she recalls. Motivation came from her love of the game and the support of those around her: “I wanted to come back and feel healthy again so I could do what I love. My family and friends supported me from the very first moment.”

Trust in the Head Coach, Family Atmosphere in the Team

Her choice to join Szekszárd was clear: “I had already had the chance to work under Attila Vágó. He knew my abilities and trusted that I would return to my best form. So accepting his offer was never in question.” She also felt welcomed immediately by the team: “The atmosphere is very family-like, and everyone was really friendly with me.” This trust forms the foundation of the club’s new mindset: everyone matters, everyone is important, and everyone works for shared success.

The Double Significance of the September 6 Match

For Eszter, the upcoming match is a celebration: “I am filled with joy and excitement, and I believe I can give my best from the first minute.” Her goal is clear: “I want to win with the team and achieve success together.” She also sends a message to the fans: “I will always give my best and fight on the pitch so that we can achieve as much success as possible together.”

Additionally, September 6 marks the last match her head coach, Attila Vágó, must miss due to suspension. From the next round onward, the bench will be complete again, giving the team further strength.

The Beginning of a New Era

Eszter Hodászi’s return is not only a story of an athlete’s recovery but also a symbol of the club’s renewal. The new ownership mindset, built on trust, confidence, and constant fighting spirit, sends a clear message: Szekszárd FC doesn’t make excuses—it sets goals and achieves them.

Szekszárd FC is now stronger not just physically but mentally. It is a club that believes in itself and in each other—and knows that together, any obstacle can be overcome.
